Interview with Erik van der Geest (PokerCapo.com Webmaster)

Name: Erik Van Der Geest

Age: 43

Location: Denbosch, Netherlands

Website: http://www.pokercapo.com

Hobbies : Antique, Ancient History, Poker, Football, Futsal

Simona: Hi Erik, for how long have you been working in the iGaming industry?

Erik: 5 years

Simona: How did you become and Affiliate?

Erik: I used to be a carpenter and i also used to work in constructions. But, because of an operation at my back that went wrong i ended up in the Affiliate Marketing. I have transformed my hobby into my work.

Simona: I am so sorry to hear about that. I hope you are now feeling better.

Simona: In your opinion how did the Affiliate industry evolved and what do you think it’s the future of iGaming Affiliate Marketing?

Erik: I think that everybody is an Affiliate now a days and thats also because of Facebook. Operators promote their own links on Facebook witch makes it harder for web masters.  And regarding the future, i think Mobile gaming is starting to pick up. Every website now has to be mobile friendly. According to statistics everybody is checking all their stuff on their phone.

Simona: What do you think it makes a good Affiliate?

Erik: Honesty, hard working, keep up to date what rivals do and SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

Simona: How do you keep the players coming back to your website?

Erik: Fresh content and constant new promotions and extra's.

Simona: How do you choose which operator to promote?

Erik: The feeling I have with managers and what extra's my players can get so I can keep them happy.

Simona: What do you offer that no other Affiliate is offering?

Erik: 24 hours a day support if they got a problem with one of the poker-rooms or casinos then I will go out my way to solve it for them.

Simona: Do you think social media is important for an Affiliate?

Erik: Yes and no. If Facebook and Twitter where not there then our communities would have got more traffic and forum replies and topics. So all and all i think social media sites like Fb and Twitter cost us more then than it brings in. I also dont like it that programs use a friend invite bonus  (refer-a-friend). We, Affiliates, bring a few players and then they bombard them with friend referal bonuses. Its like 'theft' if you ask me (smiling).

Simona: Do your players prefer non-deposit bonuses? And is that affecting your earnings?

Erik: A no deposit bonus can help to get attention and to let the player get used to the software and futures. But real good poker players and regular casino players never use a ndp bonus because of the bonus restrictions or playtrough they got.

Simona: Do you have a favorite Affiliate platform?

Erik: Not realy.

Simona: Are in this business to stay?

Erik: Yes, I am.
